Description
Core State Standards and newly developed assessments, such as Smarter Balanced, will require major shifts in thinking, planning, and practice. Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) continues a four-year journey towards implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
The administrative book project is designed to support educational leaders as they build instructional capacity within their schools to ensure successful rollout of the new standards and assessments. By harnessing this instructional capacity, the instructional shifts of the CCSS are brought directly to each school and classroom.
Under the direction of the Board of Education and the Office of the Superintendent, Educational Services in collaboration with Human Resources and Business Services are working with national partners, such as the Council of Great City Schools, West Ed, Student Achievement Partners, and Stanford University, to implement the Common Core based on best practices and current research. In addition, parents and other community members are an important component to the implementation of the Common Core. This book will allow for easy access to a number of resources needed by administrators to assist in this process.
This book is designed to help administrators:
• Enhance understanding of Common Core State Standards.
• Discover how to deepen the work of PLCs and Site Leadership Teams to build capacity around Common Core State Standards as we move toward full implementation of the Common Core.
• Organize resources for immediate use and long-term application with various constituencies, including parents, students, and community members.
Keep up-to-date with information concerning lesson development, assessments, technology specifications, reporting and data use.
